I was wondering the same thing as I'd thought about undertaking the project of turbocharging mine. Here's a link to a thread where a guy I know is building a 4.7 liter turbo motor for his Supra. He has done a good bit of research on building and racing the V8 Toyota motors, so he might know something about the strength of the stock automatics, and who knows how to beef them up if needed.

I knew Eric was using the V160, but if you contact him or post in the thread he probably has heard from some of the V8 racers about the strength of the automatics, or could ask them for you. But the Lextreme guys probably know too as a result of the GS and SC. Come to think of it, I think the guys at AAP in Atlanta area have a TT SC430 that they recently finished....
