hey guys, i cant seem to be able to bring up the compass feature on the dashboard of my 01 LS430 (no nav)...with the ignition on, i hold the disp 2 button on the steering wheel down, and the display only switches between the outside temp, and a blank screen...

i also tried it on a friends 01 LS, and his is the same way, yet the owners manual says that there should be a compass feature for those cars without nav...both of our cars is the UL package...

any ideas on how to access the compass???

On my new 2001 LS 430 (no nav), I have the same question! I don't think it's included, but that seems very strange. My 1997 Ford Expedition has a compass!

 

Ok, here's the scoop. I communicated with another Canadian member yesterday, and the Canadian LS 430 in 2001 did not have a compass, even though the manual tells you how to display it and how to drive in circles to recalibrate if necessary. I did notice one small line next in the compass information that said "if equipped", so I guess this was the case!

 

damn.. and all this time i was trying to figure out how come the compass function wasnt working!!

 

I have an 01 UL with nav. and cannot seem to display it either and I doubt it is a Canadian version. Is that the case with all 01's?

 

same here. no compass shows up. i've tried everything .

yeah, why need compass if you have NAV!

 

Bumping this old thread just to say that I can’t believe my Es330 showed the compass direction on the rearview mirror, but our 430’s don’t show it anywhere!
