Phase 2 underway . . . no details since JP plans on surprising me , however, I will give you guys a sneak peak at what's going in (that I know of):
2 Alpine 12" Type X subwoofers
2 Alpine PDX 1000 mono amps (digital)--one on each sub
Gel Cell Battery (hidden)
And a lot of sleepless nights for JP . . .
ETA: Friday the 19th

Phase 2: *Drum Roll*
Overall Pic:
Light Show
Alpine Logo (Lit)
Overall, I like the design, especially since it allows me to load my golf clubs as needed . We decided not to install the 3rd amp due to space constraints, so the woofers only have one PDX1000 amp. However, I'm not ruling out installing the other one, but it will have to be hidden (still up in the air).
Phase 3 (highs & mids with backseat video screens) should be taking place shortly and although most of it will be hidden (can't allow the ol' ball & chain to know ), I'm sure it will bring my audio ventures to a close--for the time being.
Enjoy!

If I would have allowed them to remove the spare tire, we could have had quite a bit of fun . . . butttttt, I travel quite a bit, so that was a no go. At least I can get to the spare without removing anything.
On a side note, the spare battery is located behind the subs and this piece sits on top of the mystery hump (metal box). Type X highs & mids to follow.
Props to JP at Car Stereo Warehouse in Lexington, KY.
Anyone want to go tailgating??? LOL

What are those things under each screen, amps?
What the hell is this, pimp my ride LS430 version?
Most importantly, how does she sound?
Did your installer port the box so it fires the air up through the factory "hole" for the sub?
What gauge wire did he run from the front battery to the back?
Did you/he use any stiffening caps / capacitors?
Where's the best ground point for the amps?
Can I ask anymore questions?
ps HOLY CRAP THAT LOOKS GREAT!

Alpine PDX amps (digital)

LOL . . . its the new G version
Most importantly, how does she sound?
Excellent . . . even with the factory ML highs & mids. Those, however, are being changed to Type X components in the next few weeks.

Nope . . . with the 8" sub removed and a custom grill created for the ski hole (pass through opening), we have enough air movement.
What gauge wire did he run from the front battery to the back?
4 gauge
Did you/he use any stiffening caps / capacitors?
If we would have used the 3rd amp, I think we would have incorporated a few caps, but with the extra battery, I have not noticed any issues.
Where's the best ground point for the amps?
I think its grounded to the metal on the rear seats--not 100% sure
Can I ask anymore questions?
No . . . I'm done

I am thinking about have the same job done on my 01 Ls430, but the problem is i live in Atlanta.
I really do need some pointers from you or if anybody here knows of a very good installer in the north atl area. please let me know.
I am really curious as to how they ran the amp power cable from the battery without messing with the firewall.
One last question, what will i have to use/do to rewire my factory speakers, using an after market amp and adding two 10s in the back. I want an install that will look OEM as possible. I am really going for SQ without breaking the bank.
thanks.

hey don,
i performed the installation on 350g's lexus. as far as retaining a stealth look, you can remove the factory cd changer, and since it is a single din size, you can replace it with an aftermarket radio. the only drawbacks to that are a)you still have a factory radio in the dash that is not functional anymore, b) you can't close the woodgrain cover over the aftermarket radio. as far as reputable installers in the area, my advice would be to do some footwork, ask for a portfolio from the installer once you find a decent looking shop, and ask about any certifications the said installer has. Cars these days are becoming more and more sophisticated every year; an installer isn't worth his weight if he isn't willing to further his education and keep up with the latest technologies and "tricks of the trade". at the bare minimum, he should be MECP certified (the basis of working in the professional realm of installation) and it would be a plus if he was ASE certified in 12volt electrical (the same testing processes used by your local Lexus dealer!!!). Be careful when choosing; ask for references. Good reputable installers are out there, but there are plenty of "POSERS" who would love to tear up your ride....
Remember, you're not driving a Sentra!!!!!!!
