arrogant owners?
I just got my car!! Im so happy that once the car was off the truck, I went out on a drive on LIE, I-495.
I saw another LS430, exact same car, grey on black... so, in my excitement and happiness, I waved over to the gentleman, an older guy, probably around 50-60 years old.
He saw me, but he didnt even acknowledge me. Not even a nod, a smile or a wave back ...
Why so arrogant? Maybe I need to be driving a much more rare and fancy car like a P-car or a F-car to be able to 'identify' with an owner?
Dont mind me here, Im just ranting...

Pfffffttttttt..........too many owners like that!! I don't care. I still wave at any and every SC I pass!!
As such, he probably is rather reserved, and in the case humorless. It could be either:
1) Slow reflexes and aging make him ignore you/not see you
2) He can't believe someone so much younger than he is can afford an LS 430
3) He's introverted and embarassed
When I see somone with the exact same car, especially around my neighborhood , that usually triggers me to start modifying it right away. I HATE running into some one with the EXACT same car
So maybe you'll run into the same guy a month later only this time he'll have a Wald body kit on it, dropped 1" with 20 inch rims

Thanks Jlaws.... im happy that its here.
And hopefully, the older gentleman wont be the guy with the bodykit and the rims... I hope to be the guy!!!
Now, if only the hurricanes stop coming, so I can start selling my product, then I can mod faster.!!

Got the ticket in the Meatpacking district, while having some fun with friends...
It is for parking under 'no standing' zone. Didn't even see the sign, because apparently, half the block is a 'no standing' zone ...and they is only one sign way up ahead, in the middle of the block.
And the sign is also blocked by big trucks!!
I parked the car right near the intersection, just after clearing the sidewalks. So, it was impossible for me to see that 'no standing' sign.
Anyone think I should try and fight it? Or just pay the 120 bucks?

Meant no dissrespect Lou
I live around the block from a retirement apartment complex and when the residents decide to go for a drive my neighbors and I make sure the cars are in the driveways and the kids are not playing in the street!
My comment was referring more to the driver that probably shouldn't be on the road anymore!

Of course, if you would like fuel for a really good rant, then go and try to fight it.
Enjoy your car!

You're driving your brand-new car in New York happy as can be. You see someone who's driving a car that looks exactly like yours. You try to signal to this person that you don't know and they don't respond. You feel that because they don't respond the other person is being arrogant. However, perhaps as an older person driving by themselves, they may be much more sensitive and careful than you are when it comes to encountering strangers. Maybe that other person saw you and was worried that you were trying to "mark" them in order to "jack" their car. Maybe they were scared. "Timoc42", you're probably a nice guy. Clearly, you were trying to be friendly. Under the circumstances, the fact that your gesture of friendship was rejected should not lead you to think that the person was being deliberately rude or discourteous. When someone that we don't know rejects us, they're not necessarily being mean, rude, or discourteous. [If we believe that they are being these things, it's probably our insecurity that's showing.] It could be that they're letting us know that they feel uncomfortable because they don't know us and that their trust is something that has to be earned.

I'll bet you 100 bucks that the guy didn't even notice you were in the same car as his. He had no idea why you were signaling.
But I love these guys...you know why? They are the ones that buy these cars (mostly) and keep them in tip top shape...don't abuse them and take that first two to three year hit on depreciation! Without them, I wouldn't be looking at 2002 LS 430's that look and feel brand new!
They are also the guys that hold on to cool cars for years and years, never ever driving them much and keeping them showroom new. Like the sweet little old lady that kept a 67 ChevyII (Nova) hardtop with the 283 V-8 and red paint in perfect survivor condition and then sold it to me for the cost of a nice sushi dinner...(real cheap)
someday I hope to be one of those old guys...I've got a 69 Road Runner convertible sitting in my garage that's in showroom condition thanks to another one of these guys...(no sushi dinner there...paid through the nose for it). One day I will be the old guy selling it to some young schmuck.... for a LOT more than a sushi dinner...lol
So don't get all discouraged... wait till you see someone young in another LS, and I'll bet he notices right away and waves back.
Besides, everyone knows that Corvette owners are the arrogant ones...
Let the modding BEGIN!!!
