Default Low Tire Warning Sensor

Today I was out and my "LOW TIRE" warning came up. I examined all 4 tires and everything is fine. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the temperature rose to 60 degrees in Pittsburgh from near zero last week. Anyway, how do I make this go away. The book mentions something about a tire pressure switch to hit when installing new tires...but it doesn't say where this switch is.

I don't have the manual in front of me but I think the switch is on the lower dash, about where your right knee would be aiming. Good luck!

If you look really far under the driver's side dash, above your right knee, you will see two buttons: one disables the keyless entry/start and the other resets the low tire warning.

The problem with the low tire warning system on the Lexus is that it is a compromise system. On BMW's, Mercedes and others there are actual sensors in the tire mechanisms which monitor pressure. On the Lexus system the antilock braking system is employed to look at different rates of tire spin. If the system senses one tire different than the others, the alert is triggered. This has two problems: one, it is inherently innacurate and two, it does not identify which tire is low in pressure.

Hope this helps.

The manual is useless for this. I had the same problem.

You need to press and hold the switch and then re-initialize the system afterwards.

My manual said to just drive "over 19 mph for a while". Completely wrong.

Yes, the manual was useless. Thanks for the advice as I found the switch and reset it last night.

This morning, however, I found that the car (garage kept in a 65 degree garage) was dead as a door nail. I jump started it and it runs fine now. I suspect something is wrong with the computer or something electrical. I will watch it for a few days and take it in (needs an oil change anyway) if the problem persists. Also, I note that it is interesting that this happened on December 31st and the battery was dead on Jan 1st. Maybe it's a Y2K problem 5 years late.

After putting on new wheels/tires, you should reset it; otherwise, the warning light will come up.

Thumbs down sensor

I put on my 18 in winter wheels and tires and my sensor has been on for 2 months. I reset it 4 times then i just stopped. Also my park assist also quite working. Just got my recall on nav. I have 20,600 miles.

I just got my 05 LS430 w/ 46k miles. I had it inspected before I bought it and the tire wear is uneven. Most wheels are around 5/32nds and one is at 7/32nds. I had the TPMS light go off on the long drive home from Dallas where I bought it. I found the reset button and the light was off for another 80 miles or so but it came on last night driving home from work. Initially the tires were at 50psi and the spare was at 14, I aired them all up.

If the sensor works on change in wheel speed then does the LS430 need all tires replaced each time one needs to be replaced?

Anytime you make a change of wheels, tires, change pressure, fix flat, etc., you should,"Initialize" the TPMS, not just hit the "Reset" button,

To do this, turn ignition to "ON" , but do not start. Then hold reset button in until the word "INITIALIZE" appears in your dash display. (Otherwise, TPMS warning which was reset will probably reappear.)

Then you're good to go.
