Default Verizon Bluetooth w/ '04 LS430?

Anyone have Bluetooth Verizon service (presumably the Motorola V710) with the '04 LS430? Will it work? Ask three different people and get six different answers, it seems...

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2004 LS430 and a Motorola V710 on Verizon. It doesn't work well now, but I expect that a firmware fix from Verizon will help quite a bit. Here are the details:

- Outgoing calls work fine when dialed from the phone or the NAV screen.
- There's no mechanism for moving phonebook entries from the telephone to the car. It's my understanding that this will be resolved in a Verizon firmware release within the next couple of months.
- Incoming calls work VERY poorly. If you have a basic ringtone selected, NOTHING will happen in the car to indicate an incoming call. If you have a polyphonic ringtone selected, the NAV screen will change to display the incoming telephone number and the audio system will mute. There's still no actual ringing tone. It's my understanding that the upcoming firmware release for the phone will address this problem.
- Despite the phone's EXCELLENT speaker-independent voice dialing feature, there's no way to access this capability via Bluetooth (despite the fact that a Bluetooth headset works VERY well with voice dialing).

Excellent information, PSW. Much appreciated. I haven't been able to get a "real world" answer out of anyone.

Now, a stupid question, I'm sure... a "firmware fix" is something that they can do to your specific phone or to the Verizon system itself, without having to change phones?

Again, I appreciate your help.

Not a dumb question at all; I should have explained the jargon a little more clearly.

Firmware is the operating software for the phone and is stored on the phone itself. Firmware updates are generally accomplished by a technician plugging a data cable into the phone and uploading the new software. So, while it requires a visit to a Verizon location, it should only take a few minutes to do.

I've heard rumors that the V710 may support over-the-air firmware updates, but I'm disinclined to believe them; there would be a lot of software work and infrastructure support required for a function that's done no more than a couple of times during the phone's life.

I also have a V710 to go with my '04 LS430. There have been several other forum threads addressing this issue. I'm overall satisfied with the sound quality, but Lexus has disabled some fairly important telephone features (especially when the car is moving). See the earlier discussions for mor information.

Thanks, gentlemen. I should have checked out earlier threads before posting initially. I have done that now and have found some good information. Since my initial post, I have received my V710 from Verizon. Not a bad phone. Personally, I am looking at the '05 LS Sport for the fall. Hopefully, the firmware issues are resolved by then, so I should be fine. I didn't want to buy a BT phone now that wasn't going to work then.

I was also asking because my parents are currently driving an '04 LS, are with Verizon as well and are looking at BT phones. I might see how my V710 does with their car before encouraging them to buy the V710 for themselves. Or, they may wait until fall for the V710 too.

As seems to always be the case in these situations, people such as yourselves on these forums seem to know more than the folks at Verizon and Lexus combined.

Thanks again. I'd certainly appreciate any information, including firmware release information, in the future.

The 2005 LS 430 and V710 shows same issues as 2004 LS 430
1.Outgoing no problem use keypad on nav
2.Incoming call map blanks to show call and called id (cool) but no ring to signal call
3.Still can't transfer phone book - (:
4.When bluetooth activated for car headset bluetooth deactivates (for me) with HS820
