So Fred, in conclusion, you are covered under any RUST for 72 months regardless of mileage. Lexus has to pay and fix this.
Lexus is not perfect. They are just the closest car manufacturer to perfection. Sadly, you got one of the few cars with an issue.

Nice to hear the reply several months, after the fact, but this is not at all how this all shaped up for me.
I dealt with Lexus USA and Lexus Dar Cars and was not given very much help at all. Firstly, the car should never have been sold in that condition, and yes it's my fault for not seeing the area, but is it my fault for trusting Lexus?
When I called Dar Cars, they told me I was over-reacting and that if I just drove it the 4 hours back to Silver Spring they would fix it all. Sure.... Dissatisfied with this I cxalled Lexus USA who advised me to bring it to a local dealer (Lexus) which I did. They were not at all keen to get involved with this and tried to avoid contact to some degree, but eventually they did look at it. The service guy I deal with, Jeff looked it over for me and stated very clearly that this car would NEVER have been passed by him as a CPO Lexus. Lexus USA informed Jeff and me that they were not responsible and that I was to go back to the dealer in Silver Spring. Very nice huh?
Anyway, after long phone discussions with the CPO manager at Silver Spring, they finally ageed to have an indepemdent shop fix it. I sure wasn't in the mood to have them do it, as they did not have my trust.
All was taken care of in the end, but this took FAR too much effort on my part to have them correct an error that was very clearly theirs. Lexus USA was not even the slightest bit helpful, and they refused any responsibility for the rust repair. Basic things like weather0stripping were cracked and falling apart which also had to be replaced!
I love my car and will continue to buy the Lexus brand. I am not naieve, ie; other dealerships may be great, other brands may have worse experiences, but my experience was very poor.
BTW it took 3 days for my body shop (GW in Statre College, PA) to deal with the problem and was almost a $1,000 in cost. So the ol' drive it down to Silver Spring and we will fix it in a day thing was a joke. I was treated like a kid by Dar Cars and will not ever forget it. Lexus is the highest quality brand, but my dealership experience was awful. If Lexus wants to continually persue perfection, then this would be an area to work on.
Anyway, long ago I stopped being upset about this, but it still wasn't right.
