Smile Just bought a 2001 LS430!!!

I just bought a 2001 LS430 yesterday in Silver Springs Maryland. Pine green with Nav/Levinson.

I had posted on the site earlier b/c I had a 2004 GS300. I traded this in (yikes....depreciation!) and got the 2001 LS430.

If this all seems crazy....it is, at least that's what my wife thinks.

Question. It has 41000 miles on it. 3 yr, 100,000 mile warranty, Lexus Certified. Should I get my local dealer to look at it now or wait for the 45000 mile servicing?

Anything I should worry with this car in particular at 41000 miles?

Any thoughts on the best leather restorer? I know this is a previously asked and answered question..(Hide food etc), but any thoughts?

Fred

PS I'm gonna Zaino it to death this weekend!

Congrats.

I've had good results with Leatherique on my LS, although I have not tried other leather care products so I can't say how it ranks with other products on the LS.

Hey Congrats! I just got mine one week ago, 2001 LS430 Silver with the Ultra Luxury Package! That thing even has suede leather on the bloody headliner! I traded in a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. The car was too small, and I needed something with more room. One drive in the Lexus and it was over.

I actually use Coach Leather cleaner and Coach leather conditioner. It's the stuff they sell over the counter at the store where they sell coach purses. It works great, use the cleaner and then the conditioner. My wife's FX35 has the brick interior and it looks brand new. I used it on my Legend as well, and after nine years on the Legend, the seats still looked good.

Congrats on getting the LS.

Do you mind me asking how much you got in trade-in for your 2004 GS300?

Because I also have a 2004 GS300 with 2500 miles on it and I am thinking of getting the new GS300 when it comes out next summer.

Thank you.

Default 2001 LS430

Loving the LS 430...way better than my GS300, but I guess they really aren't comparable cars.
Used Lexol on the seats yesterday night....lots of rain in PA and this weekend I'm hoping for sun to do another leather protection and sun baking.

As far as the trade in value....I definitely came out with a loss, but my car had been in 2 accidents in 7 months ($9000 when I hit a deer!), but in the end I plan on keeping this car forever (200,000 miles), so I will come out ahead in the end!

In the end I really wanted the LS430 all along and now it's time to get to work on the Zaino-ing!

By the way it has a sport suspension....what exactly did I get with this?

Fred

Default What dealer in Silver spring ?

Did you get it from lexus of Silver Spring or Herb Cordon off Route 29 ?

I bought my 94GS at Dacars a subsidiary of Lexus of silver spring in 1996, I thought i got a deal until i found out after an accident that the car had been in a bad crash previously and the quarter panel and frame had been welded.

I trusted buying from a dealer over a private dealer.

Bad Experience

Congratulations on the LS!

The LS430 sport suspension is a "Euro-tuned sport suspension with 17x7.5" alloy wheels with 225/55HR17 tires. The system uses stiffer springs, more aggressive shock absorber damping rates, a thicker rear stabilizer bar for reduced understeer, and special suspension bushings for a more immediate feel of the road."

I believe you basically got a GS type feel in the LS package. If I were in the market to buy an LS430, the Euro Sport Package would definitely rank high on my list of desired options. Enjoy!

Default Man another Darcars victim!

Sorry to hear what happened Afaleti, I would have like to have seen your post 1year ago before i purchased from Darcars. Your right about trusting a dealer before a private owner. I thought that before my last 4 years of bad experiences with lexus dealerships . And the God fearing man i am i kept on forgiving and giving the dealers another chance. No more from now on i'll just buy at auctions, first getting vin#'s and running checks on the cars im interested in and purchase my own warranty from a great company. And going the private dealer route is also an option i'll just run a vin# check on that car/cars from a private owner also. Hope things have been better for you since that bad experience. I notice people on this site aren't as supportive to those who have had bad experiences. I guess unless it happens to you people just don't care. I'm not that way, i hope things get better for you Afaleti. Also Darcars got me to, i was lied to and sold a car with touch-up paint all over it. It was overcast and raining when i purchased. Also they sold me the car without the Master key and didn't tell me until after i signed the paper work. They said when i asked them were the master key was, when i was test driving it that they dont give out master keys because of theft in D.C. I belived it at first until i purchased the car signed the paper work still no key. Took me almost a month to get my master key and i payed for the programming here in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. Car also got stuck in park at times, and the chrome stripping on the bumper was really lose. Got it fixed by the local dealer under warranty though. I'll never trust another dealer again. I hate to say it but Mercedes treated me better. HE'S AN ON TIME GOD.

Thumbs up Hi Afaleti

Got my seatcovers here in Virginia Beach, at The Sheepskin (757) 497-7328. Also I have some for a GS300/400/430 available in all black for the whole GS never used. And as for the warranty i still have the Lexus warranty for the LS430 I got from Darcars. I was saying that on my next car I will purchase a warranty from an outside source other than a dealers. And I won't be buying from a dealership again. My freind is a dealer now so i'll be buying from him from now on.

Default More updates

After a long and somewhat heated discussion with sales manager of used cars at Darcars Lexus in Silver Spring, MD, they have agreed to let my body shop fix the work with them paying for it. They offered to do it in Silver Spring, but my trust is fairly low now considering the issues with the paint. I am comfortable with the body shop fixing this and I think the problems will stop (I hope), as this shop has fixed other cars for me.

I hope that I won't have long trrem rust issues, as it seems fairly superficial and they will rust-protect the entire panel.
Hopefully no more fighting and frustration!

Fred
