Update: Growing concern around OEM parts availability
New OEM only.
In my experience, you send him the part number you want, he'll check with the manufacturer and get back to you on stock and pricing within a day or two.
In some cases the part number could be updated and he'll notify you of this. You can decide if you want to go ahead with those or not.
Most of the time, his prices are Amayama or tad lower.
What you get from him, that you don't with Amayama, is that he can quickly check if something is NLA faster and you can place an order with him faster.
If you have a banking app like Revolut or similar, you can transfer money to him faster than with the brick and mortar banks.
This speeds your payment to him and he orders faster from the manufacturer to get stuff ready for you faster.
I forgot to add: he is Seagulls_Japan on ebay. The man has a solid track record.

Alternators (reman) are getting scarce. There are only a handful of dealers in the country that advertise they carry them (only 2 on the East Coast). Planning to replace mine for the second time. Original one died at 10 yrs, 85k mi. Current one is still going strong at 11 yrs and 120k mi, but with the car not near a dealer and alternators getting scarce, I’ve decided to replace it. Alternators for the 2UZ are plentiful (LX, 4Runner, tundra) but for the 3UZ , the pool of cars is much smaller, LS and GS 430’s

You need to look for these in Japan as well, though new, but not as expensive as in the west (even after import and duties)
There is also Bosch, which is solid.
Alternators last a long time and, from research, if you are not a habitual "short trip" driver, then they live very long lives.
Also, if you were to have a failed alternator and you buy a new/remanufactured one, keep the old one and send it in to be remanufactured.
That way you won't ever "run out" of alternators.
