Launch a heritage parts program for the LS430

I bought my LS430 UL Gold mystic in 2001, one of the first one to come off the line. I have been taking it to the same dealer where I bought it for over the years and taking care of the car. I was so impressed with the dealer service until recently where they couldn't find OEM parts, I felt they didn't want to work on my car. Last week, I took it in for oil change and the air suspension pump noise. They checked and said they couldn't find part, and they said transmission fluid smelled burnt and it should be replaced but they didn't have it and will not work on it. They suggested trade it in for an ES.
I went to pickup the car yesterday. They didn't even change the oil.
That prompted me to start this petition.
I am estimating there are still about 50,000 LS430s still running great on the road looking for OEM parts.
There should be a lot more signatures.

Signed, even though I am not in the USA.
In my experience most dealers are just not interested in working on cars over 15 years old.
It's a sad state of affairs but I can kind of understand it from a business point of view.
My advice is to find a local independent specialist and develop a relationship with them.
I did and my local independent then went the extra mile for me to fix the rear-air-con issue, where the Lexus dealers attitude was "parts no longer available, not interested in you or your problems".

I signed it also.
However, echoing @BigBoomer 's comments above, although it is frustrating, I do kind of get it. I remember the first time I heard a dealership say "we don't repair, we only replace". After 10 years a car can have potentially any number of problems, just spend some time in the 460 forum. One part they think is bad could be 3 other things or lead to them. We may say they "repaired" our problem, but all they did was look at their guides and replace a part. Dealerships are rich, and they have to cover their liability, so they cannot be repairing something 3 times because people keep coming back saying it isn't fixed, or dealing with the bad players who are looking for a payout. Then the market has moved to demand service plans with new cars, and that creates insane levels of volume through service, so they just can't have their bays filled with 10-20 year old cars needing multiple hours of labor. Then there are warranties and recalls, and they only have so many bays, so it becomes a real estate war. When someone is told their warranty or recall work on their '24 cannot be completed for a while because some '02 is needing the engine torn apart, that doesn't go well. Lots to consider. I wish us luck with the petition, but ultimately the accountants are going to make the call. What happens when they commission another 5,000 sets of floormats, and sell 1,000?

Thank you all for the support. We almost have 400 signatures.
Let's keep spreading the word to others like us to join the effort to keep the LS430 — a true example of Lexus’s “Relentless Pursuit of Perfection” — on the road with safe, reliable parts.
