Default LS430 P0442 diagnosis

Hello everyone. I've been trying to diagnose a small evap leak in my 2003 with 96k miles, I believe I've checked all the evap hoses in the engine bay which for the majority of them are new. What is old doesn't have any cracks With that being said today I believe I might have pin pointed the leak a bit.

So today after a 20 minute drive, I got out of the car and smelled a faint hint of fuel. I was replacing a PCV hose clamp anyways so I made sure to sniff the engine bay a bit but couldn't find it. Went inside came back out. it was gone. Drove 15 minutes, stopped to check and I smelled it again. Opened the gas door but there was no smell around the gas cap which I already assumed since it looked fine when I previously inspected it. Then I bent down and definitely smelled it coming from the wheel arch. Drove it back home, no smell. So now I'm wondering if that's what's causing the CEL. I was on my way to get gas when the car threw the code about a week ago. If I'm not mistaken I remember that when filling up the pump stopped prematurely and at that point I had already heard that overfilling was bad for the charcoal cannister so I only added like a gallon more and sure enough it was right under "F". I know for a fact the first time I filled it up before the CEL it didn't stop prematurely. But I believe it did stop on my second fill up which is when the CEL popped up(before) and on my third fill up it didn't happen again but I might be mixing up the third and second fill up or if the third fill up even ever happened (it's been a long week). To be honest I'm not sure if this is even related or more of a coincidence. Regardless the smell is definitely coming from somewhere around there.

I plan to get down there tomorrow and inspect everything but I was hoping for some insight before I do. Where should I be looking for exactly? I imagine its one of lines on the Filler neck or neck itself. or one of the hoses that the lines connect to, does that sound about right? Or could it be the charcoal cannister itself even though to me it just seems unlikely. What else could I look out for down there?
