Replacing the valve cover gaskets. Working on the passenger side. I have an OEM gasket part number 11213-50031. It does not fit. When I get one side in the other side comes out. There’s no way I could get the cover reinstalled without the gasket coming out.

Has anyone else had this issue? Are there any suggestions or should I buy another one? I’ve head some recommendations to use super glue but others say not to.

Is that the RH valve cover? It looks like it, where did you get the gaskets? Don't use any kind of glue.

yes. It’s the right side, passenger side. I verified the part number. I purchased from a Lexus dealer ship and it came in the OEM bag.

Don't know how to explain that it should fit straight away. There is no way to put it in backwards of course. You could stretch/fit the gasket with a heat gun but not ideal. What year is your car?

It may have sat on the shelf at the dealer for a long time. Now it wants to stay in the shape it was in on the shelf.
Try soaking it in warm/hot (not too hot) water until it no longer feels bound up in an abnormal way.

I checked, 11213-50030 fits your car this is replaced by 11213-50031 (they are the same part). Since Lexus let you down consider this

im considering buying another one. One recommendation was to put the gasket in the oven on 190-200 degrees for 10 min. The add pressure to reform the gasket. I’m doing that now.

Try a blow dryer on low and see if you can get it to sit in the groove correctly.

My concern is over time the gasket will go back to its native shape and start to leak.

I agree why risk it. If the 2nd one fits poorly then ouch. I gotta be honest I'm not happy with Toyota gaskets, semi-recently I did a valve cover set on an 3MZ about 7 years ago it's now leaking pretty bad. Is it wrong to expect more than 7 years out of it?

They should last a lot longer than 7 years. I’m going to order another one tonight.

I would take it back to the dealership and explain to them and get a replacement.
