2004 Ls430 Extremely rough 2-1 downshift and hesitation 3-4
I just recently purchased my 2004 ls430 couple of months ago from an elderly couple. It was at 95k miles and never had the timing belt changed yet, so I had my belt changed by somebody who claimed to of have work on tens of ls430s and done this job many times. Long story short I got the car back everything seemed fine till 30 mins of driving I get a check engine light. Throwing camshaft position sensor bank 1 and 2, and codes saying both bank 1 and 2 is running lean. So I end up taking the car back to the mechanic and he says that I need to replace my vvti sensors and change my oil. I did so and the codes came back right after I reset it and drove it again. I took it back and he told me not to worry about the codes and if it’s running fine then everything’s good. 2 days go by of me driving it to work then it developed this extremely hard downshift 2-1 and would hesitate when up shifting 3-4. After this I decided to take apart the cam covers and turn the engine over to dead center and ended up being one tooth off. I bought a new tensioner and fixed the timing but my transmission is still having issues. I was wondering if anybody has had a similar situation and how they went about getting it fixed.
