I did both my sideview mirrors a couple months ago. I purchased aftermarket (TRQ) from Amazon about $200 each. I ordered unpainted (gloss) black that complimented my silver 2005 with an amazingly youthful look!
My only issue was removing the old wiring harness from the inside of the door. I found the old harness's connector, where it connects to the door controls, was too large to pull through the rubber weather and windproof layers under the base of the mirror to the door. I sat there wondering how the Japanese worker who is much much smarter than me, originally could have installed it? After coming up empty with solutions, I simply cut the old connector off, then pulled the old cable through the hole.
When trying to push the new cable and connector through that hole, I had to cut the hole to slightly increase the diameter (using a sharp razor blade), It's rubber so it's pliable and able to be stretched to accommodate the new cable's connector.
Take your time, and wear comfortable clothes, as you'll be sitting on the ground for parts of the job. Finally, have something stable that you can rest the door panel on, when you remove it from the door. It will be connected via the lock cables, and will pull at the soundproofing and insulation on the inside of the door. It's a balancing act. You will understand when you successfully remove the door panel! I used the shipping box of the new mirror, as it seemed like the perfect height to rest the door panel on.
FWIW - don't loose the plastic plugs that go and hold the plastic window frame - These plugs are smaller than many on the car in other places and I have not found them yet online.
The online catalog no longer seems to have them at least at TreasurecoastLexus - goodluck - two of mine were lost at the bodyshop.
