Pulled ML Dash Radio From Parts Car
Is there anyway I can bench test this radio screen modular component first to see if the screen is ok without tearing apart my car to plug it in?
I was looking at the pin out schematic but am still researching.
I am thinking I only need 12v power ( red & yellow) and ground (black) but I am not sure what pins yet - still looking...
Did any of you try to bench a radio like this to test it first and get the LCD to turn on?
Thx
EDIT: I just realized that there is a dependency of the nav unit to get the screen to work but I think that is just for the nav screen - All I want to test is the digitizer and see the brightness of the screen before I start pulling apart my dash and deal with the brittle plastic radio frame on my 20+ 2004 -

You also need to be VERY careful not to apply power to the wrong pin or you could end up frying it.
And I suspected what you said also and you are right - and after searching the pinout and online I gave up and this morning started the disassembly and got through it ok -
And I remember when I got the car it was no screen because the trunk nav was shot. Plus you need to also plug in the DVD to get the complete system working.
I am 2 strikes on these two used units and neither one is worth going after.
1.) Dim screen and digitizer in worse shape than mine - one button having an issue
2.) 2nd unit is no screen or blank screen - and lower left button having an issue.
My junk yard accepts returns - LKQ charges $85 any car radio with screen. ( with warranty) About $65 without. ( I took warranty price )
I am ok with the OEM system even though the Teyes looks promising - I just want a better brighter LCD screen so I will continue working through this.
And the OEM system works fine with my Android on incoming calls. So really even though the Teyes CC3 has that beautiful screen I don't mind the OEM buttons and look.
I do have the part number for the replacement screen/digitizer and can order from China for 1/3 the cost of US. Plus the screen/digitizer combo is new and I am a retired IT engineer so changing this out isn't a big deal after watching a guy do it on YT.
Thx for the input.

If you don't have the Nav anyways, I would probably opt for a Teyes or similar as they seem to be the best all around option so long as you can get it all working with your CANBUS.
I am considering one myself as my TomTom is 10 years old and for very little more than a new TomTom I can get the top spec Teyes.

The digitizer sits on top of the Toshiba LCD.
I just pulled the unit apart and its a 30pin LCD std connection along with the digitizer std connection - basic just like laptop system boards.
I will update when I get the part in from China -

The original listing was "TFD70W20 NML75-8399-113 Brand New Original 7 inch LCD Display Panel for Car GPS Navigation System Device for Toshiba". Something similar can be found here: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804197078558.html
Install was fairly straightforward, note that there is a thick 'screen protector' on top of the original LCD, but I'm not sure if that can be ordered new
