I just bought myself a LS430 and notice the tail light are almost all not working, with the exception of one on each side. I really don't want to fork over 500-600 bucks for some tail lights since I notice people have taken the face-lift model assembly and put them on the pre-facelift cars, other than the obvious wiring issue, I want to know if I could just get the older assemblies and make it work for at least the body mounted ones.

 

It's technically possible as long as you figure out the wiring

However, you have to swap the entire trunk panel:

Your lowest cost option would be to DIY the LED replacement, as has been discussed in some other recent threads
