Default Glitchy nav screen / bad nav dvd drive

My Nav DVD drive has never worked right since I bought the car. Worked occasionally but kept getting the "Unable to read data, check if the DVD is correct" Took the entire thing apart and cleaned everything w/o any success. Could never get the DVD to eject so defiantly something wrong. Left it out entirely for the time being.

The nav screen itself is also goofy. Not sure what the screen is made up of but it looks like there is a puddle inside of it. I can still read it but its super dim unless I play with it and eventually lightens up. I've messed with the brightness and still have the same problems. I considered sourcing a used DVD drive but if the screen is jacked I would have to replace that too.

Considering one of the ebay head unit replacements but I've read that they can be glitchy too. Not trying to dump a lot of money in this thing (hence my screen name) but would be nice to have a fully functional radio that I can actually see.

Recommendations?

Those eBay units are pretty good deal, they give you a lot of improvements over the original and they aren’t expensive. I figure if it only lasts 2 years and then I have to buy a new one and it has any improved features that are invented between now and then, then that would be great.

i replaced my screen with a used one from ebay (not cheap!) a few years ago, and all has been well since. It's a gamble i guess
