Default Shock Absorber difference between 01-03 and 04-06 models

Hey guys,

I am planning to replace the shock absorbers on my 05 LS430 18" wheel.
I have noticed the part numbers and prices are different under 01-03 and 04-06 models.

Here is what I have found from Bell Lexus website:
Front:
01-03: 4851080131 ($215); 4851080306 ($161); 4851080307(Sport? $145); 4851059805 ($237)
04-06: 4851080131 ($215); 4851059805 ($237)

Rear:
01-03: 4853059845 (Sprot? $213); 4853080130 ($149); 4853080241(Sport? $95)
04-06: 4853059845 (Sprot? $213)

What are the differences? The prices are also quite different. Front 4851080307(Sport? $145) + Rear 4853080241(Sport? $95) seems to be a killer deal.
Can 01-03 unique PNs be used on 04-06?

No.

They are shorter. Will they, "work"? Sure, but at the cost of what? Will you need matching springs as well? Will your car sit lower?

Air suspension, but still illustrates it.

01-03 coil spring part numbers in case you go that route.

48131-50120 standard
48131-50130 sport
48131-50140 rough road package and sport

Thanks LILEVO! I have been following your YT!
I will match all 4 corners.
Every other suspension parts will be Lexus parts, OE18 wheel. Any possible concerns?

I think the reason was they only offered 16 and 17" wheels in 01-03. Might be why they extended the length for 04-06 to accommodate the larger wheels.

01-03 are twin-tube shocks, 04-06 are monotube.

I have another question: Would it be okay to reuse top mounts (150k miles parts)?

here is the part number for the mount. I would replace them if they are over 100k miles , otherwise you risk doing the job over again. ask me how i know this.

Hi,
I have a 2004 LS430 17" non-sport package and am also looking to replace the shocks with the lower priced ones, but not sure,
@ywang0322 which shocks did you end up going with?
@LILEVO So it looks like we should not use the 01-03 non-sport shocks on a 04-06 non-sport car then? or is getting new matching springs the only way?

Thank You!

I would not mix and match 01-03 and 04-06 unless you are getting parts for free and just testing it.
