Default 2003 ML navigation question / issues

My nav is on the fritz giving the "Unable to read data, check if DVD is correct". I've done some research (disconnect the battery, removed and cleaned, etc) with no success. The DVD will not eject, just spins when I attempt it. The internals were covered in dust and I cleaned the connections with electronic parts cleaner.

Any other suggestions? The unit is out on my workbench.

Honestly, I dont even want Navigation as I never use it and its so outdated. Is there a way to bypass the system so it doesn't keep popping up with the error? Disconnected the screen goes black unless you hit a feature which is less than ideal. Ebay has used ones but I feel that is a gamble as well.

Thanks!

Check out my GROM review. Best way to keep the factory look, but bring it up to 2024 standards.

Besides that it sounds like your nav player is dying. A cheap upgrade is the Gen4 2006 Prius player 86841-50090 or 86841-0E010. The 01-03 is the gen2/gen3. That should fix your DVD read problems. Even after that, the latest nav disc you can get is 2015. So all the nav stuff is already 10 years old.

By the time you buy all that though, you'd almost be to the Grom $$
