Why is Engine starting To Idle Rough
Question for the guys. I have a 2004 LS430 with 62,000 miles on it. Just brought the car back to the mechanic because after installing a new actuator in the right front passenger door the door rattles ? For a few days ago and on my way to the mechanic I noticed a slight vibration on the steering wheel and on my drivers seat. This never happened before. It was always very smooth. What would you think could be some reasons for this. Thanks for all your help.

They probably disconnected the battery which reset your engine computer tables.
You probably have a dirty throttle body, which is causing the engine to idle lower with the factory settings, due to less airflow around the butterfly valve due to gunk buildup.
It will likely correct itself given enough time, or you could clean the throttle body out, which is a pretty simple task to complete.

The door rattle in post 1 probably means that when the actuator was replace something came loose or was not fastened properly in the door . Take it back, recreate the noise for the mechanic and have him fix it.
Thanks for the Info. In the door they found a screw loose on the power window track and that seemed to do it but the Idle is Tricky. It seems when I drive for a while at 45 to 55 Mph and stop it runs smooth again but when I'm stuck stopped in traffic or at a very long light I start to feel the vibration. I never changed the spark plugs or did the dealer routine 50,000 mile service. Could that have something to do with this ? Thanks

I would pull a spark plug out to have a look - you are long overdue for changing them based on time. While you are at it, pull off the small rectangular cover plate on top of the throttle body and see how black with carbon and how clogged the 8 little holes are. I think minimum cleaning those (plus the two big ones in there) and a throttle body clean as suggested by YoshiMan may help the car run smoother. Also check for any stored codes.

Vibrations could be motor or trans mounts. I had mines replaced at about 175k miles then at around 196k my coil pack on cylinder 8 went out and the car would vibrate and shudder a lot. I ordered a new Denso one from Rockauto and my car runs great. I have had that low idle issue while car was in drive also. I cleaned the throttle body and those lil holes at around 169k but the low idle came back at around 190k . I have 197k now and I just changed the air filter and the low idle is not completely gone but it’s better now. Actually it’s not while the car is idle( Neutral) but rather when it’s in Drive that the idle would get low.
