I've been having some clunking issues going on with my '05 LS and have it at my mechanic now. He says it's more than likely the rack that is going bad. He also mentioned he did one on a '01 not too long ago and he had to find one that had an EVO sensor on it. I then did some searching on racks and I see where some have them rebuilt but say they come without the EVO sensor. What is the EVO sensor? Is that something that can be moved easily from one rack to the other or do you have to get a new one? How can I confirm mine even has an EVO sensor?
Yes, you have one Lexus calls it a Progressive Power Steering (PPS) Solenoid.
It's held on by one bolt and very easy to transfer to a different rack. Be careful when removing it the internal O rings are prob not available.
