LS430 fuel pump went out about 4 years agi. Real weird symptoms. started the car and as I was backing out the engine quit. reatarted and all was good. This happened occasionally over a period of several months. Then one day it didnt restart...in the middle of a major intersection.... Turned out the fuelpump relay was welded shut and the pump was worn out from continous running. Replaced all and once again the car was like new.
Well, four years later the symptoms are back so I asume its the same problem. I know the drill so it wont be too hard to fix. BUT maybe there is an upgrade that will prevent the relay from welding shut and killing the fuel pump? Maybe its just the aftermarket pump I used? Is the OEM that much better?

 

There is something wrong with your car it shouldn't be welding them together, I have had 5 430's one for almost 6 years and none of them ever did what your describing.
