Default P0440 Code 2000 LS 400

First post, appreciate any help. Just got my 2000 LS 400 back from shop that replaced power steering pump and some related power steering hoses and now I have a P0440 code. This apparently has something to do with the Evaporative Emission Control System. Really don’t want to go back to that shop—any thoughts on wether there’s an Evap Emissions Control System component in the vicinity of the power steering system that could have been knocked loose or something like that in the shop? Where to check?

Default I don’t think it’s the gas cap.

I hadn’t actually put any fuel in for a few weeks. I did gas up after the check engine light and code, and tightened the cap, just in case. So I don’t think it’s that. But thanks for replying. I do appreciate it.

I think the shop touched hoses or connectors related to the evaporative emission control system. I'd check the system viewing the attached file.

Default You got it right!

No idea why this came back from the shop unplugged but it looks like this was the culprit. Back of the engine compartment, passenger side, powering something having to do with the fuel system. I am convinced I just need to get access to the shop manual, learn from this forum, and move beyond just doing the oil changes DIY.

That's part of what I thought. Anyway, congratulations on your find and fix.
