Default LS400 crank no start question

Hello all, I found this UCF10 for sale close to me that had been in a front-end collision at some point. The guy says that it was wrecked and needs some sort of sensor as well as a new battery. He said it goes through the process of starting but cuts off like it's not getting fuel. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I plan to go look at the car Tuesday evening, just want to be able to look into it before I decide wether or not to purchase it. Thank you.

That's a loaded question could be wiring harness damage from the accident, possibly hidden. Be careful purchasing a car like this can turn into a major headache. Where was the car hit exactly and how bad?

The accident was in the front end, the passenger side fender is bent, and the front bumper took the most of it. Headlights are still intact but definitely moved. Grille is okay, front crash support doesn’t look terrible. But I have a parts car I don’t really care about so I can cut/weld if needed. But the car only has 106k mikes claimed and no rust with pictures of the frame.

Bad crank sensor? Not sure on this era of LS it may start without the signal but then shut off the engine. Some Lexus and Toyota models will crank but never start if the crank sensor signal is dead and you'll have no CEL. What year, could the security system be preventing the engine from running?

My rule for buying a car is no rust, I'll likely buy no matter what is wrong with it. I can fix almost anything but once rust takes hold it's impossible to stop.

Yes I 100% agree with buying no rust chassis. It’s a 90 which is the same exact year as the parts car fortunately. I’m not sure if it will crank with a bad CPS or not, I’ll look on some other threads to see if I can find that. I’m also not sure how hard that is to reach, but I’ll check as well.

He just sent me the video of the attempted start-up. It's cranking pretty slowly, and he said that part of the issue is that it needs a battery. He also said that he thinks the fuel pump needs to be manually wired, but he wasn't for certain on that.

The year rules out a tripped up security system. I think the crank sensor is on the bottom of the oil pump housing. Given the year probably won't start without that signal but I'm guessing.
