I NEED TO BUY A NEW ECU COMPUTER FOR MY 95 Ls400 where can I buy one at I believe I need a whole new computer but I know for a fact I need a new ecu capacitor help please
Well, if you need one right now, might not be everyone's favorite choice but Autone or other popular car parts stores might have one in stock. Remanufactured. You have to take it out and match the numbers and confirm it with the rep at the parts store. Gonna cost you.
use car-part.com to see if a parts recycler is nearby that can provide you with a replacement ECU. yes make sure you replace the same exact part number from what you currently have.
once you get one, you will have to get it's capacitors replaced which is another effort altogether.
The computer is matched to the engine, the car won't turnover because of the immobilizer (or something like this I can't remember the specific items in play). I think it's defeatable, but it is far from a "hot swap".
Can go easy on the caps lock & bold text - it's not needed. We get ya.
What makes you think you need a new computer? A lot of electrical problems are traced to bad capacitors, I'd at least try that first before swapping out the brain.
When you purchase an ECU, you have to be careful for the update of the firmware other than the infamous capacitor issue.
The California model for a 95 originally had an ECU 89661-230 or 89661-50231. These have a known issue of engine halt problems after the high speed run and some others. The TSB says to replace the ECU from 89661-230 or 89661-50231 to 89661-50234 which has an improved new firmware.
The same thing can be said to Federal models. a 89661-50224 is recommended to use replacing 89661-50220 (factory installation 10/1994-02/1995) / 89661-50221 (factory installation 02/1995-08/1995).
Although the TSB says to replace the ECU but there also was a method just to update the firmware at a dealer. In this case, some additional suffix figures were added to the ECU part number.
