Default Check Engine Light Bulb

I have a 93 LS400 and the check engine light bulb is out. I searched and thought I had the right part number but it doesn't fit.

Anyone know what type of bulb this is? Would like to get an LED replacement if possible. Thanks.

I think it might be part # 84999-10320. Would be great to find an LED replacement. And one that's not $10 per bulb since there are a bunch in the cluster.

Should be able to figure out by counting the number of like bulbs

Don't use an LED here they are not 100% reliable, the factory bulb lasted 30 years.

It's a 83101-20080. In case when it's not available locally, you can buy it from the parts seller Amayama below. Problem is that the shipping cost is often more than the part cost.

There is a way to use an LED but additional resistors are usually needed as is explained here. In order to match the brightness, a current limiting and a current bypassing resisters should be implemented as well as to match the polarity. Without the bypass resistor, the LED would emit the light even when the circuit is not driven since an LED works even the current is extremely small. I only recommend this method for people who are skilled doing these type of affairs.

yes correct. there are different types depending on size.

once you know the size, just find the LED equivalent and color you want:
