I have a 97 LS400 and I bought purple LEDs for the interior and license plate lights a while ago.The interior lights work well but the license plate LEDs have been iffy. When I first put them in they both worked fine, then the right one flickered. I replaced it and the left one started to flicker. I read on a youtube video that the car gets confused because the new led lights require less power, the solution is to replace the fuse with a lower power one. Will this fix my problem and if so where is the license plate fuse

So long as these are quality 12V rated lights they are plug and go without a fuse change. Any issues with regular incan lights in the socket? Check the sockets and harness. Do those LED's work in other sockets ok?

I would not suggest running purple for the license plate lights. Most DOT lighting laws state white for the license plate. This attracts LEO's for a friendly chat.

License Plate Bulbs
OEM LS400 incandescent license plate lamps 168/194 consume about 5 watts each,.so 10 watts....
Purchased Sylvania Zevo #2825 T 3-1/4 white LED bulbs that consumes about 1 watt each, and 6000K color temperature.

8 watts conserved is about 2/3 Amp.....probably greater energy conservation considering 33% efficiency of internal combustion engine that ultimately powers it..

In any event, went with a brand name Sylvania LED for license plate bulbs to avoid failure and probable cause encounter.

Led lamps installed..old incandescents bulbs in package
