Are you looking for the scan tool or just the cable?

If you just want to do simple sensor reading, etc., you can go either of two ways.

1) Hand-held OBD-I scan tool and a Toyota-specific cable to plug into the car and into the scan tool.
2) An OBD-II scan tool that supports OBD-1 and a cable that will adapt the scan tool's OBD-II cable to a Toyota OBD-I plug.

A dedicated OBD-I scan tool would probably only be found on the used market. I'd say your bet bet is option No. 2.

Example:
Scan Tool:
Amazon Amazon
Adapter cable:
Amazon Amazon

Confirm whatever cable you intend to buy will fit the diagnostic plug under the dash. Also, be advised that scan tools like in the example may not be able to read manufacturer-specific codes, have two-way communications or be able to program functions that would normally be done by a dealership service department.

Default OBD1 Scanner

Paul, thank you for your response. Second option #2 is what I guess I will try but concerned about how useful it will be if it can't decipher factory codes. I'll update results. Thanks again for your time.
