had a fun old time doing the new rack on my 2000, unfortunately still turns super stiff at low speeds, sigh.

Will be posting step by steps for a future user later

roughly how much in labor is it to install a new rack? my steering feels pretty ok but the rack is leaking a drop, and the pump makes some cavitation noise

with these being FR layout i've heard replacing the rack is actually somewhat straightforward

It isn't too difficult but of course a lift makes everything easier. Due to working here I could not post a how to unfortunately.

How much brown nosing did ya do to get them to let you use the lift? Didn't you just start working there? Just kidding there, bud. It's good that they trust you enough to use their equipment for your own personal vehicle. On your own time, right? How's the job workin out for ya?
A lift makes life so much better. I almost had one put in my garage when I owned my house. But glad I didn't cuz the HAG got everything in the divorce. Oooo my life coulda been so much different.
You say it's still a bit stiff, Did you change the outer tierods, ball joints or any other suspension parts?

Thanks Dean, i'm now coming up on 5 months here and I am just now starting to flag and turn my own hours.. so things are going good. I bought my first box and am getting to do little things, brakes, alignments, nothing hard. Luckily they let you work on your own car after hours so no worries there. And I had changed out the LBJ and outer rods a few months ago so I just re put them on this new rack, took a bit to do the alignment with a new rack but we got it centered.

Glad to hear the job is workin out. The tools will come through the years. When I was younger I used to buy a tool or two every week when the Snap-On truck came in. They add up quick that way. First what ya need, then what ya want.
