Default Side Marker Replacement- Maybe wrong name for it

Side Marker Replacement-

Ive searched this on the forums and keep getting the turn signal light next to the head lights.

What's the best and easiest way to replace this? i tried to just pull it off, but there are 2 small nuts that keep it in place. I'd rather not take the wheel off and remove the liner. I also tried getting at it with the hood open, no luck.

IIRC, I turned the front wheels as to the right as far as possible and loosened the wheel well liner just enough to push it out of the way and slip in my hand. I know for sure that I didn't remove the wheel well liner ... never had to do that in my 11 years with a 2000 LS400.
