Default 96 LS-400 Timing Belt

Can anyone tell me for sure if the 96 LS-400 has an interferance motor. I want to make sure before I lose a motor to a blown timing belt. I'm approching 120K miles.

1996 LS400 does not have an interference engine.

Question

I checked the Gates site, and it would be great if the Lexus engine was not interference. However, they list all of the Volvo OHC four cylinder engines as interference, when only the 16 valve engine is. This makes me a bit less than confident in Gates information.

98+ LS and SC engine are the one you should be worry about. Also, for 120K miles timing belt should be change ASAP along with water pump, cam seals and two idlers. You will pay more when it break on the road....
