You should have done the Anti-vip thing with it.

Anti-Vip Build Thread

I said you should do something like this at first. If you are going for the stock look then that type of look may not be for you.

Sunroof mechanics all set back up... can’t get the video to upload but I got it fully functioning again..... still have the dents, abound an inch into roof, some suggest just popping them out, others say leave them in then bondo the rest to where it’s sealed to the moonroof. I’m at a loss of direction, luckily no rain these past couple days here in San Antonio even though it has called for it.

Nice to hear you got it in and working. When you said you were gonna pop out the dents before, I was thinking good, there'll be enough clearance for the glass to go inside when opened. Do you know how much clearance there is between the roof and glass?

Default Sc400

My fathers SC400 has been stored here since 2010 I believe, 350K miles. Car was trashed after a car wash nozzle sprayed pressured water and not degreaser, water getting in the engine and fuel injectors, later the gas tank in the trunk started deteriorating from god knows what.... everything is still on it, near perfect body

Okay guys.... sorry for not posting, so I was able to fix my old assembly and get all the glass out of the “track” which was preventing the roof from working..... the motor to the new LS roof wasn’t working.... but the older one did.... weird.... but anyways the sunroof is now fully operational, what I was able to do is grab weights (see pic) and push on the roof and evenly distribute Weight and push it back into place, all the major dents are gone but still some little ripples.... I put everything back together and had someone spray the car with water at the car wash and no leaks.... once it rains bad will see if it leaks then, but for now it’s a success! Might add some silicone to fill the little gap on the back.

You can see where I pushed the weights here.

Professional body man, using the weights. Gotta do what ya gotta do in situations like this. Everything becomes a special tool. I would fill in the little gaps with silicone just to make sure it doesn't leak in the future. Maybe silicone all the way around just because the roof was so bad. Nice work.

Thanks guys, little cool thing I never noticed, the LS has a t20 screw to adjust the height of the moonroof at any position, not sure what use some would find of it but good to know!i am noticing play in the roof as I push up on it, nothing is loose, not sure what if could be, it’s definitely the glass and not the assembly moving.... functional but annoying as I am a perfectionist.

I’ve been at this for hours, I know it shouldn’t be doing this.... I just don’t know what’s letting this happen, the track seems fine, has a little play but so does the old one that wasn’t in the accident. I’m getting really frustrated with this. Please watch and give thoughts.

My 97 is rock solid, 98 has a small amount of play but no rattle. Its probably different from LS to LS. So easy to overlook something in such a complex job. Could have been some sealant used at the factory when installed that dried and broke up when you uninstall them?

I took pictures before taking everything apart and looking back I don’t see any sealant nor material that would make a difference. I kind of am thinking of taking it to Lexus again and seeing what they say and stealing some of there smart info, I’m lost.
