Default Transmission Mount Question

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I daily a 1999 LS400, and just crested 130K miles. I've noticed some slight vibration at highway speeds, and I've purchased a replacement transmission mount. I plan on doing this job myself this coming weekend. I have read some tutorials on the process, and I am familiar with working on cars.

My question is this: Is there a correct direction to install this mount? Or is it symmetrical and it does not matter which side faces the front? It appears to be symmetrical, the only difference I can see is the letters "NR" on one side.

I have linked two pictures that show the mount from the two different sides:

I've replaced the mount on both my 97 and 98, I don't recall it being directional. The part is quite symmetrical

Thanks, that's what it looked like to me, but I'd prefer to avoid any surprises once I get under the car, considering I need to drive it to work the next day.

I'll be changing oil, drain and fill transmission, and replacing the mount while I've got the car up, wish me luck.

that is the simplest, easiest repair you can do to a LS... go for it.

Got everything done without much drama. I made things just a tad more difficult on myself by using ramps instead of jacking the car all the way up on stands, in retrospect I could have used the few extra inches of clearance.

The old trans mount looks like a marshmallow after a sumo wrestler sat on it. The new mount was tangibly stiffer.

I was only able to take a 10 minute test drive, and was not able to get to highway speeds, but the difference is already very obvious. Some small vibrations under 35mph that I had written off as normal for a car with 130k on the clock are completely erased. I've only had the car since last year (purchased at 120k mileage), and this honestly feels like a new car.

The 2 quarts of trans fluid I dumped came out nice and red and looks really clean, with no off smells. I probably won't bother doing again for some miles.

Thanks for the replies!
