I didn't see a price on that link. Should be ok... Delco is a quality rebuilder. O'rielly shows one, their part# is 990-0172. I prefer to deal with local retailers for the warranty.
Maval is another brand to avoid like the plague...

It was $110+445 for the core and 9% tax and $8 ship. So I think $170 overall and $115 just for the reman.

good luck power steering components are tricky at best..u will be rolling the dice. i would not buy from rock auto due to the fact u will most likely have to deal with a defective or 2..ac delco is either rebuilt by cardone..or bbb, both in mexico. i got tired of dealing with inadequate parts and ended up buying a new one from WWW.MYLPARTS.COM use promo code CL5 for a discount. i replaced all my components as my rack was out..all brand new lexus/toyota parts. including the hoses...power steering is a known issue with these cars and u might as well do it right and forget about it for the next 10+ years. thats if ur keeping the car..if not then go cheap. good luck

What are your thoughts of buying just the seals and resealing the existing pump?

At some point, we all have to consider what our time is worth. For a $200 pump, I would rather swap out a reman unit and avoid the mess and frustration. Take a good look at the hoses before you start...it's a good probability that one or more might start leaking after being disturbed.

That's exactly what I did on my '91. I had never rebuilt a PS pump before.

Used the Lexus kit for it: 04446-30173 for the gaskets, 90363-17017 for the bearing. And checking my old notes (10+ years ago), 90311-17004 is an oil seal, which may have been included in the gasket set.

Working great since then. Really makes me wonder what these professional outfits that are in the business of rebuilding and selling pumps are doing, since the reputation is so bad. I did not paint mine following my rebuild, so they probably beat me on that aspect.

So for me, yes, I'd definitely do it again. But everyone's answer will be different - depends on skills, tools, free time / value of time / whether this would be fun vs. work, and the joy of sticking it to the man vs. suffering at the hands of the incompetent rebuilders. So YMMV.

It appears that the large 'O' ring is the cause of the leak that dribbles into the alternator. Is this correct ?
If that is the case, has anyone applied a thin layer of RTV to the front and rear pump housings? Especially if the pump is a Lexus part vs, a reman. Since opinions here are that the reman pumps leak prematurely, this could be a more permanent fix.
Just asking

I wouldn't let rtv anywhere near it. The surfaces should be hospital clean when assembled!

So just replace the three o ring's in the pump, as in this thread?
or did you pull the bearings as well? -- I know bearings are usually meant to be last much longer and you're better off not touching in most cases. I am trying to carefully save money and time in my situation, my pump is 230k miles old so am I better off in replacing the seals (three seals as in the post) or replacing with a reman pump by AC Delco?
I am replacing the tube from reservoir to the pump. Did you replace your high pressure tube (the expensive item as well?). As of now I know that mine is leaking in the reservoir to the pump, guess my valve is broken for which I am replacing with another $80 valve as well, and either replacing with reman pump or working on replace the o-ring in my existing pump.
I can't single out whether my high pressure hose is leaking as mine is leaving all over the place at this time.
Any suggestion to replace with a reman or rebuild the PS Pump?

Just an update my AC Delco Reman seems to have failed today. I had 262k miles. Failed out of no where.

Just from personal experience, avoid anything Cardone.
