Ls400 issues- P0171 and won't start

Ls400 issues- P0171 and won't start
so all of a sudden my 96 ls400 wont start. i used the scanner and code P0171 popped on. so i know the issues could be alot of different things but is there anything i should i check out first? any help would be highly appreciated. thanks
