Clunk when breaks are depressed
When going at low speeds and brake, I sometimes hear a clunk coming from the front end. I dont think it is the brakes, it seems to only happen when the car leans forward after I brake. I have air shocks. I think it might be one of the ball joints. They have never been replace, and last time I had it at the Lexus dealer they said that they needed replaced soon. I dont know how much stock I put in this since this is right after they told me 1500 to replace the calipers ( I did it for 120 with rebuilt ones). Anybody have any other Ideas.
Ill get an auto mechanic to look at it if I dont figure it out soon.
I'm curious. how did you manage to replace four callipers including labor, even if they were rebuit, for $120 ?
I ask that becuase I have to replace them too and it would be nice to save 1500 if i could
I have a 91 ls 400

It could be either of two things:
1. Brakes - only make that noise the first time you reverce direction
2. Strut bars - more likely in your case. These are the pieces that hold the front spndels from moving when you break. They are around $75 each from a dealer. There is none in aftermarket.
Hope this helps.
