Reducing wind noise between front and rear door gap
While visiting Lexus observed new 4 door vehicles employ seals between the gap of the trailing edge of the front door skin and leading edge of rear door skin...
Had a look at several new models and then after conferring with Lexus parts department purchase left and right side weatherstrips P.N. 67895-60040 and 67896-60040.. .. $17 each with tax.
Gap between front and rear door...before applicatiom of weatherstrip.
Tucked weatherstrip into gap between lower cladding and door panel
Image depicting upper leading edge of rear door panel. The weatherstrip has a bend at this point so started here. Trimming is required and the trailing edge of weatherstrip will be scored to allow it to better follow contour of upper door panel. Absolutely must use grease and wax remover spray for best adhesion of weatherstrip adhesive.
Profile and depth of weatherstrip a perfect fii onto rear door leading edge contour..pressure sensitive adhesive is quality high tack variety.
Another angle
Door closes perfectly after installation....gap is sealed... Noticeably quieter at all speeds ...howevet reducing noise in one place,, it becomes more perceptible elsewhere.
so was this an option? or yours was missing?
I don't have my LS anymore so I cannot check.
fascinating they made this specifically for the LS400!
It was never installed.on LS400.
Newer model Lexus' use it to reduce wind and road noise....so determined I could use an existing part from a newer vehicle to accomplish same on LS400..
