The shot above is after I had removed both intakes, taken the wiring bundle apart and had the water bridge pulled up slightly. The shot below is at the back of the engine right after I got both intakes off. I pulled them off with the fuel rails attached, although I did read some peoples accounts where they had to take the rails off. There is a wiring bundle that you will need to take apart that runs through a black plastic housing. Next you have to take off the rear coolant bridge that has the egr pipe attached to it. If you have any age on your EGR pipe, now would be the time to replace it. After you get the coolant bridge removed, you can get to the bolt on the back of the starter and remove it. All of this takes a fair amount of work and you have to take off a lot of hoses. So keep track of hose routing as you go.

Piece of advice: If you’re changing your starter, do your EGR flex pipe (The gold colored rib tube you see at the back of the engine behind where the starter is located) as well, since this is when it will be most accessible.
