Default Valve cover bolts

So I replaced a valve cover gasket today.

I ended up with one missing bolt.

Does anyone have the part number for a valve cover bolt for a 1998 LS400? If not the part number, does anyone know the size of the bolt so I can source a replacement?

The washer is a specific application for the valve cover. Be sure to get it as well...

Thanks guys for the help. I have a set of brand new washers that came with the replacement gasket. The replacement gasket, however, didn't come with new bolts. Just new washers. Oh well.

Do you think that I could just take the bolt to Home Depot and have them match the size? Or will the thread pitch be too different?

I'll probably just take the part number to the local Lexus or Toyota dealer but I'm still curious if a hardware store would have the appropriate bolt...

I'm pretty sure they are M6, just like most of the bolts holding stuff in place in the engine bay.

M6 means it's a metric bolt with a major diameter (outer diameter of the tops of the screw theads of 6mm (actually a tiny bit less than that). And since no thread pitch is specified, it has the standard pitch for M6, which is 1.0mm, meaning the threads are 1mm apart.

It's about the most common metric bolt you'll find - the metric counterpart to the SAE 1/4-20.

I don't recall bolt length. Best to pull one off your car and measure from the bottom of the bolt head to the end of the bolt (i.e., overall length minus the head thickness). 20mm would be a good guess. If so, that would make it a M6-1.0x20.

You could do yourself a favor and buy something like this:

That way you'd have a good chance of having the screw you need without making a special trip each time you need one. You'll find some assortment kits that are JIS (Japanese standard) and some DIN (German). An M8-1.25 is always that size, but the DIN vs. JIS may mean a different standard thread pitch is included (e.g., M10 may have 1.5 vs. 1.25 as standard) and also the size of the hex head may be different for certain sizes (e.g., an M8 may have a 12mm hex head for JIS, vs. a 13mm hex head for DIN).

Thanks. Do you also have the part number for the ignition coil bolt? I lost one of those too...
