So has anyone thought up any DIY's to refresh the aged and worn Shift Gate on the 98-2000 LS's? Mine is functional just be nice if there was a how to take apart and clean/remedy imperfections of it... like cracked/faded clear plastic indicator. Or even replacing the shift indicator overlay. Thoughts?

they make plastic polishes that work well in restoring oxidized plastic.
plastix I believe is the brand but I have no first hand experience with it.

if it's totally unsalvageable you can always get a better condition unit from the junkyard.

I'd almost like to find one from a junk yard experiment if there is a way to refurb/rebuild these. I didn't even think of the plastex, I may try that.
