NEED HELP : ECU Questions 1990 Body, 93 engine, 95 ecu
Hello,
My names Akeem. I have a 1990 ls400 , aswell as a 1993. Today I just need a couple questions to be answered please.
I'm wondering if someone has the pinouts for a 1993 with labels, (really new to this). The plan is if this is possible depin the 93 plugs, and use a 1990-1992 ecu. (Can this work ?).
My last question is, can I connect a '95 ecu that has the same connectors as my 93 to my engine and crack it up ?
Please reply below, or send me in text for further help 7-0-4-6-2-6-2-4-1-9
Thanks

My suggestion would be to match the ECU part#'s up. That way you have a plug and go of proper engine control. The '95 is a low probability to work, that would not be my route.

I don't have the answer to your question but yes, you'll definitely need the connector's pinouts diagrams of the two so you can cross-reference the signal pins before you plug them in & fry some known good ECU modules. They are 2 different generations so they may not be pin-to-pin compatible. If that's the case, you'll have to build a connector adapter in order to be able to use them interchangeably. Good luck.

A 90 to 92 will not work in the 93, too many changes in 93 like stepper motor egr etc. And even trac makes a huge difference with the 90 to 92 s as well. You need the correct number ecu. This is where Yamae is needed to better explain all this to you. And even transmission control is considered with the different year ecu's. So unless you want to spend tons of money and time engineering everything its best to go with what it has for ecu numbers now.
The engineering will require you to know low level programming maybe even down to the assembly language area to accomplish the changes, if your not a coding person then all that is not for you.

Okay
Okay so I'll use the ecu for the engine,93 and as far as cruise control and other connections in the ecu area of the 1990 could I switch connectors or would it be easier to buy the cruise control module

It can be done by those who are capable to deal with these many changes. I'd simply use a matched engine with a matched ECU.
8/1992
Engine oil level sensor added.
Cold start system totally renewed.
Heater added to Pre-cat O2 sensors: 2 wires -> 4 wires.
Evaporation system changed.
ECU redesigned to match above changes as well as to implement other improvements.
10/1994
Engine management changed to match higher compression.
Sensor for LLC reserve tank deleted.
New air flow meter (Hot wire type).
Back pressure changed using semi-dual exhausts.
Fuel injection system totally renewed (simultaneous injection to independent injection).
Heated O2 sensors for all 4.
ECU redesigned to match above changes as well as to implement other improvements.

Okay so I'm gonna stick with the ecu for the engine. However as far as plugs that I won't be able to use left from the 1990 should I depin or leave unplugged ? (Under passenger side kick panel.

If so, I don't think you can use those simply. The harness as well as the control systems are different. Only the de-pinning or leaving unplugged can't deal with items listed above. There were other changes too and those were not officially announced and it would be a big challenge to accomplish the job even for a well skilled guy.

Do you mean that you use a 93 engine and a 93 ECU for your 90 body?

I still have the engine from the 1990 it's blown should I rebuilt it from the 93 I have or can I just take the harness off the 1990 and Put my 93 engine in there adding the additional sensors and such (if all I'll get is codes)but it runs it not worried.

This is sooooo easy. What I'd do is strip all the parts off both engines, then move the good engine over to the parts that came off the 1990 engine and install all them on to the 93 engine. No playing with pins or anything with the ecu. You basically need the intake manifold and all the fuel parts from the 90 installed on the 93 engine, the distributors all should be okay, but you may need the sensors from the 90 transplanted as well I don't know for sure. What you are doing is turning the 93 engine into a 90 engine.
You don't need any pin out nothing diagrams.
