Diagnosing a power steering leak

it could be leaking from the pump, there are a couple o-rings that may leak with age.
Also, are you using ATF or Power Steering Fluid? I have seen power steering leaks when improper fluid is used. These call for ATF from the factory.

make sure it's not leaking on to your alternator!

I haven't replaced the o-rings yet, but i've had the parts sitting in my room for awhile. I have the part numbers I could get for you. Or you may be able to find them with a quick search on here

So this sounds really, really dangerous...you run out of fluid and the steering wheel does not respond to input.
As you have been unable to sort it out thus far, so why not ask someone who knows??
Avoid statistic status....
