Are any 1uz engines Rev limited in Neutral or Park??
Hi All
Dose Anyone Else’s Do This??
I’m having an interesting issue with not being able to open
my throttle while in Park or Neutral!, it won’t Rev over 2700Rpm
to me this seems very unusual as I’ve never owned a vehicle that’s
done this before!, So if the throttle is opened and I try to Rev it over
2700Rpm it’ll Rev to that Rpm then die then Rev up again then die.
And I’ve also got another 1uz but it doesn’t do this! so I’m wondering why?,
it Revs normally while driving it but may have the slightest hesitation around
that Rev range but while not in gear dies at 2700Rpm.
Both 1uz engines are around the early 90’s I’m guessing.
Both engines are in Toyota’s my original one that I’ve had for about 15 years is in a
89 model Hilux 2wd with a manual gearbox and my new 1uz engine is in a 92 Toyota
4Runner 4wd with a 1uz Automatic gearbox behind it,
So has anyone got a 1uz that dose this? And Is It NORMAL??
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for your time and help
Cheers

You sure you don't have a fuel delivery problem? Does it do this when driving down the road at the higher RPM? You could verify a fuel problem by spraying some starter fluid into the throttle body when it starts to cut out; if it revs up then, you have a fuel delivery problem. Fuel filter, fuel pump or ECU are then possibilities.
