You are right. Sorry about that. I must have been confused with one of my other cars, but I could have sworn ...

I have a copy of the owner's manual right near my desk so I looked it up. Page 99 says, "...crank the engine by turning the key to "START". Release it when the engine starts." Pretty simple.

So that's good news for swan55, since it mean the system is not complicated by this feature.

I'll go back and edit my previous post so nobody reads that without finding this correction.

Here's a scan of the circuit (for my '91, no promises beyond that) with the battery, fusible links, starter relay, starter, etc.

So you can see what gets shut off by pulling the starter relay, fusible links, etc.

It looks to me like pulling the 120A fusible link is not the only thing needed, but it would take care of most other possibilities.
