Default Maintenance Suggestions

2000 LS Millennium Ed. at 220,000 km
Just had the power steering fluid flushed at Lexus (their recommendation).
Already had the transmission and diff and coolant fluids flushed.
Bought a transmission mount for future replacement.
Lexus recommended I change the upper and lower balljoints up front...and the control arms in back.
They gave me the part numbers and recommended I look for OEM or similar (they genuinely don't want me spending too much!).
Bought 4 ball joints at $66USD each and two control arms for ~$145USD and they are en route.

My question is: If I am getting the ball joints in front and the control arms in back replaced, what else should I look at while they are there...that will minimize labor costs in future?

For example should I just replace the bearings while I am there?

Thank you!

Cheers!

The Lexus dealer should know what to look for on that car. The Air Control Valve on the bottom of the PS pump comes to mind. Typically leaks PS fluid into the intake causing white smoke at start up and also leaks (drips) fluid directly above the alternator which is obviously not good! Part #1763016040 it can be replaced, don't buy aftermarket but it can also be repaired if you know what you are doing...

Wheel bearings are not a bad idea and they aren't too expensive on this car as you buy the bearing and not an entire hub. If you are doing control arms and LBJ's the steering knuckle will be very accessible. I'd consider tie rods as well since the LBJ's are coming off and maybe new rack bellows as well. None of which are very expensive.

Outside of a timing belt job, which I wont even get into, and everything surrounding it the main things to keep an eye on are plastic and rubber pieces under the hood that have become brittle and hard with age and heat. Rubber hoses aren't pliable any longer sometimes causing them to break forcing a replacement. This usually happens when you least expect it...
That's a great car and it seems you are doing your due diligence. Good for you and enjoy the LS400!

Check the sway bar bushings and sway bar links while you are there.

Thank you both! I will jot these down to add to the plan.
I already bought sway bar bushings months ago for just such an occasion haha!

Cheers!
