Valve Adjustment?
My '90 LS goes in for the 120K service on Thursday. Lexus of Portland wants to adjust the valves. The engine is quiet and smooth, no clicking or ticking. Should I let them do the adjustment? I want to take care of the car, but am not interested in unnecessary expenditures.
This car is perfect except that the emergency brake does not hold well, and the check engine light has come on twice in the last week.
Any input would be appreciated.

My recommendation is to not do it if you and their lead tech can't hear the valves tapping or clicking. Remember those valve cover gaskets are 13 years old, they are probably pretty brittle. The fewer times you get into to the engine, the less chance there is to undo something in that perfectly balanced engine. Just my opinion, I am not a mechanic, just a Lexus fan.
I would recommend posing this question in the general maintenance forum and get feedback from some of the true mechanics over there.
