I hate getting blamed for causing a problem. And a simple thing like an airfilter change wow. Maybe the air flow sensor wires or wire maybe not good? Or the sensor may have decided to break from a bit of vibration.

I did not blame him for anything, just asked if there was a possibility that he might have accidentally unplugged or potentially damaged it, I did not state at any time that he did do damage.
Changing an air filter should cause no ill operation of the engine, unless something was not done properly or was damaged/disconnected and not reconnected in the process.
It's pure coincidence. You can remove the air filter and that won't cause the car to run rough. IF you unplugged or damaged the MAF sensor, that will do it as it regulates the air/fuel ratio. If you didn't, then it's not related to the air filter at all.
