Even though some features like traction control are commonplace today, owning a lower optioned LS is not an issue in my book - there is less that can go wrong. My car is even more base, only having the Lexus carpets and mudguards options equipped.

I can understand how you feel about the car's size and safety features; advances have definitely been made in the past 30 years, but as you said, definitely don't give it away. Good luck with whatever decision you make, and enjoy your LS if you decide to keep it longer.
For me its the true time capsule thing, and that is why I'd want all options, and listed on the window sticker with it. Its all something that helps increase the collectability of it. And for a true time capsule car, its best sitting in a huge building and being on display and not being on the road, to get sand blasted and rock blasted. Does that car have all original Lexus glass? All the Ls's I have do. That can be a pretty rare thing as well.

I definitely agree with you there, dicer. For a daily driver though, which is the only practical choice for me at the moment, I am happy with an example that I can keep in as good condition as possible and still drive every day. The only things that really bother me on any car are peeling paint and neglected maintenance.

I hope to own a museum quality LS 400 and do exactly as you said. I am very tired of rocks from trucks and other vehicles, too.
