I recently had my battery die and the car stopped. Had the Alternator bench tested twice at PepBoys (3-5 MINUTE TEST) and it tested good at 14.52 battery volts 0.42 ripple volts, Amp on volts 1.11 and Amp off volts 14.14. SO, I then checked the battery and it was drained, got a new battery and then put the alternator and the the new battery back in the car and replaced the wiring harness for the Alternator (from 94 LS400 at salvage yard...much cleaner than mine) and started it up and the battery light came on, blinked twice and then went off. Left the car running for 30 minutes with full load of AC, Lights and Radio all turned on and the battery light did not come on and there was no decreased in power load or reduced engine speed. Turned the car off, let it sit for 30 minutes and when I turn it back on, the battery light comes on and stays on. I have done this twice overnight, from the car being off overnight and cool or cold, turning it on and the BATTERY LIGHT does not come on and then I let it run for 30-45 minutes with a full load (AC/Lights/Radio) and no light comes on. BUT, when I turn the car back on, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON IMMEDIATELY AND STAYS ON and the battery voltage on reads 12.30v on the voltmeter, so it is not charging. SO, after it heats up and I turn it off, then when I turn the car back on, the battery light comes on and as I said, I have done this twice and the same thing happens.

ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Can someone help me determine what may be wrong or how to test it, with a multi-meter?? THANK YOU.

 

So then the alternator and or regulator has some intermittent going on. So you replaced everything except the alternator regulator so???????
