Default 1991 LS400 lost compression

car was sitting for several years. got it started and ran great for several days. tried to start it and starter spins as if it wasn't engaging the flywheel. i thought the starter was bad. my mechanic friend watched engine while i trying to start it, and said the timing belt broke cause fan was spinning freely, but had no compression. we tore it down to the exposed timing belt, and it is in tact. looks fine and no teeth missing. what could cause a no compression situation when timing belt is fine?

this makes no sense. did u pull the plugs and check compression? did u inspect the timing belt? if u didnt do any of that, then ur friend isnt a mechanic. what fan are u talking about? the clutch fan on the fan bracket bearing assembly? the electric fan or the ac/heat fan inside the car? ok now im just being a dddick
